We provide a social opportunity for children during the parent program. Space is limited, and your child will need to be registered before attending. Currently there is a waiting list for the social group. Please contact us to place your child on the waiting list. Emily Thomas will contact you when a space becomes available. Due to the sensitivity of the topics discussed, LFSVA discourages parents from bringing children/infants to the weekly adult programs.
The Essential Pieces program offers free respite care for special needs children who are not enrolled in the social group through Mary's Family. If you are interested if registering your child(ren) for respite care, please visit www.marysfamily.org, complete the medical form, and contact that agency to enroll your child(ren).
Parents may choose to attend any or all of the weekly programs that speak to their needs. Parents are encouraged to attend all sessions. LFSVA understands the reality that parents of children with special needs have very limited time and, at times, have a hard time finding regular childcare. We want to be flexible so that we can meet the needs of each family.
We encourage professionals to attend any or all of the weekly sessions provided. LFSVA believes that this is an opportunity for professionals to hear what is happening in other related services for children and families living with autism. Professionals will also have a unique opportunity to join with parents to learn how to better care for our children. LFSVA wants to encourage an environment where parents and professionals are "on the same page".
