Essential Pieces is a structured, educational group for parents of children with autism and professionals serving the Autism community. This program is offered by the LFSVA Northern Shenandoah Valley Office located in Winchester, Virginia, with groups starting this winter in Richmond and Hampton.

The goal of Essential Pieces is to substantially improve the information and assistance available to parents and professionals affected by autism, and to work through common issues that are frequently overlooked. The program, which offers weekly parent groups and social groups for affected children and their neurotypical siblings, is a fully volunteer effort by LFSVA, and is free to all participants.

Our network of education includes resources, both web and print, workshops, weekly meetings offering professional speakers in the field of ASD and community-based resources, and informal gatherings for parents to connect.

The Essential Pieces program is supported, in part, through a grant from the Lutheran Services for Children Endowment at the ELCA Foundation.
