Tree of Memories

When we lose someone we love, our memories become precious and sacred. Even after a number of months or years have passed since the death, many people find that remembering times spent together or reflecting upon how his or her life impacted ours carries us through difficult times. The Tree of Memories provides people the opportunity to memorialize and remember loved ones who have died.

Standing in front of the Tree of Memories: Rusty Arbaugh (Contractor), Jeff Hoke (Contractor), P. Buckley Moss (Artist) and Cynthia Long Lasher (Grief Support Specialist). The contractors donated their time in designing, building and installing the tree and Ms. Moss donated her time in painting the tree.

The staff of SVGS and LFSVA believes in honoring our memories. Because of this belief, we have created a way to honor and remember our loved ones who have died. Designed and painted by the nationally recognized artist, P. Buckley Moss, the Tree of Memories provides people with an opportunity to remember their loved one.

Leaves with the name of your loved one inscribed on them are available for the following donation amounts: $250 for a gold leaf and $100 for a silver leaf. Leaf donations are tax deductible. The Tree of Memories is available for public viewing in our grief services room located at Grace Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, VA.

To purchase a leaf, contact Dr. Lasher or mail your check along with the name of your loved one who has died and your name and address. Please make sure you list you loved one's name exactly as you would like it to appear on the gold or silver leaf. Checks may be made payable to Lutheran Family Services of Virginia. Please designate the "Tree of Memories"in the memo line.  Click Here to Download a Tree of Memories Donation Form.
