With your help, Lutheran Family Services is providing the right service at the right time. Your gift helps us find foster and adoptive families for children, fund special learning aids for children with complex needs, and support those in grief, among many other services. Below are the ways you can support the work of Lutheran Family Services.
Annual Giving. Donors may give through our annual appeals each spring and fall. Those giving more than $250 will be asked to join the Hearts & Hands Society. Individuals giving $500 or more are eligible for NAP credits, which give donors a 40 percent credit on Virginia state taxes.
Gifts in Kind. You may support Lutheran Family Services of Virginia through gifts of tangible personal property. When a gift relates to the "charitable purpose" of LFSVA, the donor may be eligible for a deduction of the full market value.
Hearts & Hands Society. Members give multiple year gifts of $250 or more to support LFSVA program.
Lutheran Community Foundation. If you would like to make a grant to LFSVA through the Foundation, click Make a Gift from the charity's profile page, which you access through the Fundweb Donor Center/CharityFinder.
Matching Gifts. Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Please ask your employer for a matching gift form to send to us.
Memorial Gifts. We will happily acknowledgment your gift in memory or in honor of an individual, family or other entity.
Neighbor to Neighbor. To find out specific items that are on our wish list, please visit church partnerships.
Network for Good. To make a contribution to LFSVA through Network for Good, simply click on the icon and follow the prompts.
Partnerships and Sponsorships. Your organization may choose to sponsor a program or event. Please contact Julie Swanson, at jswanson@lfsva.org for more information or contact the program with which you would like to partner through www.lfsva.org.
Planned Giving. Through planned giving, you can create a legacy that will provide for loved ones as well as support the work of Lutheran Family Services of Virginia. A deferred gift can provide a valuable support service to children families and individuals. Please call The Rev. Workplace Giving. State and federal employees may designate a gift to Lutheran Family Services of Virginia through annual workplace campaigns. To designate LFSVA, state employees should use the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC) code #3706 and federal employees should use Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) code #75391. To give through the United Way, simple write in Lutheran Family Services of Virginia.
Lutheran Family Services of Virginia is a qualified charitable organization and meets the standards and requirements of Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c) (3). All contributions are deductible for federal income tax purposes (subject to statutory limitations) and for federal estate and gift tax purposes.
Gifts of cash (or your election to deduct only the cost basis of an appreciated asset) may be deducted up to 50 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI) in a year. Gifts of appreciated real or personal property may be deducted up to 30 percent of AGI. Excess deductions may be carried over for up to five additional years.
